The Sporebound Corruptors strengthen the endless armies of the Bloodthorne and spread their corruption even further. Lets take a look at this key unit for the Bloodthorne, which enables them to spread their insidious corruption even further and weaken their enemies one breath at a time.
The Sporebound Corruptors on the tabletop
The Sporebound Corruptors are a very cheap unit that often leads the assault for Bloodthorne armies. Their key ability is the active essence ability "Infest", which allows them to place "Infested" tokens on enemy units they hit in melee. Once the infestation takes root in enemy lines, the more elite Bloodthorne units strike specifically at the afflicted targets, quickly tearing holes into the enemy battle lines.
While their offensive profile is quite strong for their points cost, the biggest challenge for any Bloodthorne player will be getting the Sporebound Corruptors into melee. Most armies will try to eliminate them with arcane or ranged weapons, and with their below-average defensive profile, they are quickly picked off. Any destroyed Sporebound Corruptor unit limits the spread of "Infested" tokens, significantly weakening the Bloodthorne army’s late-game potential.
Synergies
A key support model for all SPOREBOUND, but especially the Sporebound Corruptors, is the Vineheart. Besides granting them the VINEBOUND keyword, which provides access to additional buffs when attacking INFESTED units, it also offers a crucial movement ability and a hit buff in the form of 'Accurate Strike (1)'.
The Bloodoak Juggernaut can provide an extra layer of defense against ranged attacks, either intercepting them with its reactive essence ability or outright blocking line of sight to the Corruptors with its active essence ability "Unnatural Growth."
