The Alchemists of the Umbral Veil usually operate covertly, experimenting in dark dungeons and hidden laboratories. The Poisoncrafters, however, break with this convention, driven purely by their love for toxic concoctions. They strive to see their poisonous creations in action and up close. Their very presence makes the air around them difficult to breathe, and even their blood is often poisonous and a dangerous weapon on the battlefield.
The Transmuted Poisoncrafters on the Tabletop
Transmuted Poisoncrafters are a strong midfield unit in Shroudfall. They provide the much-needed ALCHEMIST keyword to an Umbral Veil army, offering both defensive and offensive buffs.
Defensively, they can release a poisonous mist around them. This hinders enemy attacks by blocking Line of Sight (LOS) and makes the Poisoncrafters and any unit within 1” of them -1 to hit as long as their attacker is not immune to the “Poisoned” condition. Even when they take damage, they can overcharge their already strong regenerative abilities to heal up to 2 damage points.
Offensively they can fully utilize their poisons, applying the “Poisoned” condition on any critical hit. This is further enhanced by their ability to reroll a blank in both hit and damage rolls when fighting an enemy in melee alongside a friendly MONSTROSITY unit. Last but not least, they are also rather spiteful, sometimes using their final breath to release all their poison in a final explosion upon death.
Synergy Tip: Stack Those Stats
The Transmuted Poisoncrafters have a solid base DEF of 6, but their low ARM value makes them very susceptible to being destroyed outright when hit. Their passive ability, “Regeneration,” which allows you to remove one point of damage after the model is damaged, helps mitigate this.
